Victoria & Brendan had a beautiful country wedding, with the ceremony at St. Clement's Church in Yass and reception at Shaw Vineyard in Murrumbateman. Victoria got ready at Redbrow B&B and we came back to this idyllic setting after the ceremony for our bridal party photos. Redbrow now has many memories for me, as it is the place where I proposed to my beloved of 4 years, Allison, just one week before. A photographer friend, Christine, suggested the location and it just so happened to be the same place where these two were staying. It was plain to see how happy and relieved Victoria & Brendan were when they finally met at the altar, and the smiles barely left their faces all day! (The wedding was photographed for Chapel Photographers)
Kate & Ben are a sweet couple with a casual nature that made them a pleasure to photograph. We all met up before the ceremony for a relaxing photo session with just the two of them (and me, of course!). It seems like when couples see each other beforehand it helps put each other at ease and makes the photo part a breeze. We traipsed around Canberra going from the art gallery, to Reconciliation Place, the museum, and Commonwealth Park. They walked and laughed together on their way up the 'aisle' to the ceremony at the Sculpture Garden, which was very short but sweet. They had a cocktail reception at the adjacent and aptly-named Sculpture Garden Restaurant.
Don't mind the tiny heads poking out of the water at the Sculpture Garden...
In February I took part in Liana Lehman Hall's popular Photo Biz Bootcamp which conveniently travelled to Canberra, thanks to the persistence of Christine Pobke and hosted by the gracious Kelly Tunney. The 'BBC' was very valuable in making sure our businesses are headed on the right track and helping us figure out the things that photographers really don't want to be thinking about, like finances (blah!). It ended with a fun bridal shoot of the now-famous Nat and Victor, a very friendly and out-going couple that Kelly had the pleasure of shooting for their wedding. I've posted a few of my faves here. Thanks to Heather Turk for doing the hair and make-up!
It rained and rained, and then it kept raining some more. It was the most rain that parched Canberra has seen in years, but there is a saying that this is a sign of good luck on a wedding day. There was plenty of room for all inside at DeVine Function Centre at the Kamberra Wine Company, and everyone enjoyed having to stay in for a change. There was a nice veranda for outdoor photos and the rain let up enough for Erin and Sam to venture outside to the would-be ceremony site and enjoy the view of the vineyards.
