A new year...

It's the traditional time for resolutions and looking back and taking stock of the year that was 2009. For me it was an amazing year, making a successful transition to weddings in Australia and having so many different experiences. I feel really lucky that so many people have trusted me with their wedding photos and they have all helped in my growth as an artist. Now I'm about to start up again for the second peak of the summer wedding season (still find it strange that there are two peaks here) and I'm very excited about the year ahead. Although I am still busy I had booked time out over Christmas to pursue my other love of travelling and visited some Asian countries. I was amazed at how many weddings I witnessed while touring around, mostly on Sundays it seemed. It made me appreciate how much space we have to work with here and in Canada, like when I saw over a dozen couples crammed into one of the few small parks in Hanoi, Vietnam.

Here is a photo of a bride in Hanoi and the ubiquitous scooter. I'm not sure if they actually got around on it or just the groom brought it for some shots, but it's a little different...

The temples of Angkor Wat in Cambodia are an amazing sight, so it was cool to see a local wedding photographer taking advantage of it. Apparently couples there change their outfits (which they rent) up to a dozen times.

Here the bridal party get some shots taken while the bride has her wardrobe team change her into an orange dress in the background...

Here is one of my many 'random scooter' photos and one of its many uses, carrying bananas, along with others such as transporting 5 people, window panes, ducks, pigs... you name it!

I thought I'd finish with a shot of me kissing a Buddha at Angkor Wat...

Sneak Peek - Emily & Chris, December 19th

Rachel & Ned - December 12th

Duntroon Chapel was the setting for Rachel and Ned's ceremony, who are both in the Army. After a nice walk over to Duntroon House we did some family and bridal party shots before heading down to Commonwealth Park to relax a bit before going to the reception venue at the Pavillion, where there is an interesting jungle-like atrium.

Susan & Warren - December 5th

It was a perfect summer's day for Susan & Warren's wedding. After some preparation shots of the both of them in town, it was only a 20 minute drive to be fully in the countryside at idyllic Poacher's Pantry, where the ceremony and reception took place. One of the highlights of the day was Warren's surprise serenade to Susan with the song Chasing Cars. It certainly caused a few tears to be shed and raised the bar for the other husbands in the audience!

Skye & Michael - November 28th

It was a happy gathering at Duntroon Chapel at the Royal Military College in Canberra for Skye and Michael's nuptials. It was a military wedding which had lots of tradition, including an honour guard with swords. Skye & Michael were easy to photograph with Michael hamming it up. We played around Duntroon House and the War Memorial, where we took some sunset photos, before a casual reception at the college.

Anyone remember the Brady Bunch?

In case you've wondered, attaching helium balloons to a wine glass to make it float doesn't work with wine in it!
